Angry System update borked my wireless

Hi there,

I am having a struggle with my wireless.
All was functioning well had good connections to my wireless system etc until yesterday when the update manager suggested me to update the linux headers. This I did and now it doesn't load ndiswrapper anymore (FATAL: cannot load module), so no wireless. I tried reinstalling the driver which did not help, claiming it needed newer utils. So I uninstalled ndiswrapper-1.47 and tried to install 1.48, which doesn't want to install. At the command "make" it says following (translation from Dutch to English):

Blowfish:~/ndiswrapper-1.48# make
make -C driver
make[1]: Map '/root/ndiswrapper-1.48/driver' is entered
Makefile:35: *** Cannot find kernel version in /lib/modules/2.6.22-2-amd64/build, is it configured?. Stopped.
make[1]: Map '/root/ndiswrapper-1.48/driver' is exited
make: *** [all] Fout 2

Make Install gives then the same reports.

Can anyone help me getting my wireless back up?
Thanks in advance,
Cheers,
Bart

Looks like perhaps you haven't installed the kernel sources for the kernel version that's running?

(Does Lenny have any version of ndiswrapper in its repositories? If so, then that may be simpler than trying to compile it yourself.)

How and where does one check that? Kernel version is 2.6.22-2-amd64

Yep they have. I hadn't checked the correct name of the package and so it couldn't find it. Now that I restored at least this part, I got back to the original message:

Code:
FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found
So what can I do next?

Thanks for your reply!
Cheers,
Bart

Got it!

OK, I have ndiswrapper back.
I found a website where someone mentioned having used module-assistant to install the module. I tried this for ndiswrapper and got it back after installing some things (not sure what it all downloaded).

Now I have to get connected to the wireless once more and I am back in business.

Thank you,
Cheers,
Bart
