I think we could use a 'bash dunbar' session for him posting his techniques to keep new posts from disappearing from the new posts list.
A] click forum button
B] click 'View New Posts' link
C] look for the numbers of pages of new posts.... click 'Last' page link
D] start at the bottom of the page (roll that scroll wheel, son)
E] scrolling upwards, look for zero replies (a bagel)
F] decide if you even have a clue about the topic listed, consider the forum it is posted in as well.
That is where the bash dunbar part comes into play: clueless? I admit it, usually.
G] to post something, if you
do have a hint of a clue, I use my 'open link in new window' browser feature (new tab would work as well)... note whether the member is less than 5 posts or so, say "Welcome to Linux Newbie!" (no, do not enter "Welcome to TechIMO", as I have done in the past

).
H] submit the post when all is hunky dory
I] close the window
J] refresh the current window: your reply which you just closed has just altered the list of new posts, and other people may have posted in the time it takes you to think up your witty response (if you are me, that means hours)
K] scroll upwards, pick a new bagel, repeat Steps E] through K] ad nauseum.
Hint: refresh the master window every few minutes, bagels get answered by other members, so by the time you get there, a bagel might be a cruller (one).
HTH, HAND.
