hey is there a site, or windows application i can install which will scan a remote system, and tell you what ports are open and any secuirty risks
i have a new firewall on my linux server, and im quite possitive i have done all the rules correctly, but i wanna be 100% certain

Also, check out these guys (http://www.dslreports.com/tools) they have all sorts of tests. They have quick port scans and also more extensive ones. There is a nmap for windows but a tried it a few months back and it would take literly 30 mintutes to scan a pc. They may have the fix for it by now. You could also just have a buddy run a nmap scan on from a linux box.

Not really a website, but a great program is nessus and you can download it at http://www.nessus.org
