Athlon 64

Heard that Athlon 64 will be released September 2003. Does anyone know which distro supports it. Especially less common ones like Evil entity or Lunar... Or do I have to just re-compile the kernel.

haven't heard quite yet i believe S.U.S.E. is almost ready with a distro and i know RedHat has one ready, saw the info for the preview at http://linuxcompatible.org/story18852.html

There's an arch/x86-64 directory in the kernel source, so the kernel can be compiled on that architecture.

Unfortunately, you'd need a host system to do the compiling on. That would be the hard(er) part...
