Time for an upgrade.
How about - study your Karnaugh maps, digital logic, and discrete mathematics.
Oh, sorry, that's advice I wish I had heeded when I was in college.

That is pretty low on the hardware for Q3, what video card do you have?
If 3D acceleration is not enabled it will severly degrade performance.
what does glxgears give you for a benchmark (run from a terminal)
I have a 650 Mhz Celeron, 128 MB Ram and a SIS 630 Video Card wih 16 Mb of videoram(3D)
glxgears gives me 80 FPS....

well i have a Pentium III 450 MHz. 128 MB RAM. and an Asus RIVA TNT 16MB (V3400) and Quake III Arena is running smoothly. although haven't played multiplayer on the net since i'm on dial up. i play with bots. :D
Maybe its your display drivers.
the following is the output of GLX gears for my config:
1354 frames in 5.0 seconds = 270.800 FPS
1539 frames in 5.0 seconds = 307.800 FPS
1621 frames in 5.0 seconds = 324.200 FPS
1624 frames in 5.0 seconds = 324.800 FPS
1624 frames in 5.0 seconds = 324.800 FPS
Should I try updating my display drivers(eventhough linux has found my card) or do have another good advice????
PS: How do I update the drivers??? :D

1. you HAVE to update your drivers. The default drivers that linux detected for my card were horrible. basically the opengl performance was horrible.
2. check out sis's site to see if they have any drivers for linux.
i got mine from www.nvidia.com
They have my drivers and I tried to update them yesterday, but my XFree crashed and I had to reinstall....you know what's wrong???

it crashed caused the installation wasn't right. either you got the wrong display drivers for your system, or did not install them properly. check their site for instructions and make sure you get the right ones for your kernel, XFree etc. etc.
there was only one package: xsis.rpm and it suggested that I install XFree 4.0, but I am running 4.3????

you need a new video card, I've used the SiS 630 in windows and Linux, and it is CRAP for 3D, but I have run Q3A on my PII 400 with 160 megs of RAM, and a Radeon 7000 (which is very poorly supported) and it ran just fine
