I did try that but it failed for some reason, is there
a updated version of this loki updater? Hey I just went that site, am I going to have to download everything to that program 1 at a time?

Did you run as root or usr, if i do it as usr it finds nothing but if su then do it gives error, but if I logoff and log into as root and do it works, what kind of errors are you getting, system specs , and what version of whichever distro you use, like rh, mandy or suse, gentoo or others i've not used.
:D

try using this link to get the file for loki_update

Don't bother downloading extra things to update the game. You already have it...
/usr/local/games/ut2003/updater/update
run that as root (or the user that installed the game) and it will update it to the current version using the Loki Update Tool

And if it doesn't work, then please, post the error message! ;)

Ok this I tried the updater and it gave an error that I cannot tell you becuase i don't know and i deleted it thinking I was putting a newer version there, what am I thinking, don't know *shrugs shoulder* so I am attempting to compile what I have downloaded and I am not getting anywhere, so I have decided to go to bed and work on it later. If anyone can help please leave a detailed discription on how to install the ut2k3 update, i have the files myself if anyone can help there and I wouldn't have to worry about the loki program.
Thanks

You don't have to compile anything, other peoples' comments to the contrary.
Just run, as mahdi said, /usr/local/games/ut2003/updater/update -- as whichever user you installed the game as (probably root).
If it doesn't work, then post the new error.

First, tell it to use a different mirror. The one it's using doesn't have MD5 checksums available, which means that the installer isn't checking the MD5 sum at all, which means the download could have been corrupted on its way to you.
Then, delete (as in rm -rf) /root/.loki/loki_update/tmp and start the installer with a new mirror site.

the .md5 file isn't necessary when an installer/update extracts successfully and runs

search for patch.dat on that page to find out how to fix the patch problem.

Try installing the patch, see if that works...
Here's a mirror for the Linux patch

Just dont understand why they just wont make .sh versions of the patch. UT had installer type patches for linux.

?
The UT2003 Linux patches do come in that form. Use loki_update or the the bundled loki_update with ut2003 (under updater dir) to get them. The tarballs are for people that can't apply the patches due to new glibc standards which screw things (like this) up.

I seem to be having UT2k3 problems of my own - whenever I try to run ut2003, the game crashes with a segmentation fault:

I'm running Red Hat 9 and I installed the Linux Drivers from Nvidia's website, and followed the instructions in the readme to modifying my Xfree86 config file.
My PC's Stats are:
Pentium 4 2.0ghz
512mb ram
80gb hard drive
Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti4600 128mb
Anyone know what's wrong?

I entered the key I have on the back of the manual, and when I originally installed it on windows, I never had a cdkey problem. :(

I haven't, I was hoping on using that as a last-resort if I couldn't find any help.
I'll give that a try. (reinstalling it)

After reinstalling the game twice last nite, I still get the same error. :(
I'm starting to think it might actually be my cd key, but I entered it as it's shown on the back of the game manual. Am I supposed to chmod the cd-key file or do something else to it?

ut2k3 WILL NOT update with rh9- tried and tried, i did however manage to install a small compact version of rh8 (i know a real kludge) then installed ut2k3 on it and updated it, THEN copied it over to my rh9 location. with loki games gone i don't foresee the glibc problem being resolved any time soon

Looks like a glibc problem (again)
It will download the patch but when installing it gets this
cannot handle file 'libc.so.6' with TLS data
The program returned an error code (1)
