screen is a great (essential) program for anyone who wants to take advantage of the power of the command line, if your not interested in CLI, don't bother, but if you're comfortable with a shell prompt (or want to be) come check it out.
btw, screen is:
It is a terminal-multiplexer which manages windows for terminals. So, you can open up to 40 shells with just one login. You can also let programms work in background, logout and push them back to foreground when ever you want.
I use it to access 19 different consoles on 4 different machines from a single xterm with 2 keystrokes. if you do remote admin especially, its beautiful.
