Good evening.

What am I doing wrong?

I have downloaded Red Hat 8. I have tried a few times to burn CDs as ISO disks, following instructions and being "creative".

I can't get my PC to recognize the CD and boot from it. I know that the system is capable of it, I have checked the bios and double checked with Win XP disk, it will boot from that.

What could I be doing wrong?

I am trying to use Nero vers 5.5

Is there a way of using a floppy boot disk along with the CDs (or possibly coasters) I have already made?

Totally new to Linux but moderately experienced with Windows but anxious to learn.

Thanks in advance.

Have you burned the iso images correctly?
Go to your cdrom, and tell me what you see there, just a file?

In Nero, go File> Burn Image> locate iso> burn. Any other way will render the CD unbootable.

Yes, you could boot floppy with CD. Go to Windows. Open the CD. Look for readme, release notes, etc. in html or plain text. It'll tell you how to create the floppies.

Yes serz, there is just one file. PSYCHE_I386_DISC1.ISO

I have done a lot of searching and reading but can't find what I have done wrong. I haven't burned the other files yet, I don't want too many coasters!

I thought I'd do the whole thing my self (downloads rather than buy a boxed set) but can't get past the firs hurdle - yet.

jetblackz, I will try your suggestion but I am fairly sure I have already followed those steps.

Thanks, wint.

jetblackz.

Thank you very much.

Your instructions have worked.

In Nero, go File> Burn Image> locate iso> burn.

I can't have tried this method before!

Thanks again.
