Ok I was curious about Gentoo, so I decided to go and try to D/L wow confusing :( Which files do I need? I think I wanna do a stage 2 install, I am currently running RH 8.0 on 2 machines and wanna mess around with Gentoo...So if some could point me in the correct direction to get the Isos that would be great many thanks :)

I like to use the stage 1, and that way your system is optimized right from the start, and you can follow the instructions on their website right from the start:

http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu/releases/1.4_rc3/x86/x86/stages/stage1-x86-1.4_rc3.tar.bz2

Just untar it and write the iso to a disk. Don't forget to check the md5sum:

http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu/releases/1.4_rc3/x86/x86/stages/stage1-x86-1.4_rc3.tar.bz2.md5

It takes a little longer to start from stage 1, but I've installed Gentoo from stage 1 a dozen times or so and wouldn't have it any other way.

I agree with red_over_blue. Print out the instructions and keep them with you at all times;) If you follow them word for word and use the forums at www.gentoo.org you will not have any problems....I have installed 3 times from stage one and I am extremely happy with the results....Be aware it is an....interesting distro...I have only used Redhat and Mandrake Gentoo forces you to learn...at least if you want to put in the time....anyway point being....print out the instructions and use the forums...you will be happy with the results....

Hmm well if i had it my way you would only have to install once. a dozen times!! sheesh can i ask why you would do something like that?

Quite by accident i had to reinstall my root on my current distro due to sloppiness on my part but if i could have done something else to fix it without reinstlling i would have.
