Just thought I would congratulate you on it. brockmasterflex 04-03-2003, 12:44 AM lol.... I'm on my 4th Deskstar...... As a matter of fact, I just purchased a Toshiba Satellite, and have swapped out the 15 gig 2.5" hdd with a 40 gig 2.5" IBM Travelstar. I have only worked with about 7 or so, I have seen the most problems from (believe it or not) western digital, and seagate. I have been very impressed with the Maxtors, they make a little more noise then the IBMs but are just as reliable, and are less expensive. Oh and brockmasterflex, you should probably stop putting your p8 and p9 connectors to your motherboard in backwards.;) J/K. brockmasterflex 04-04-2003, 03:03 AM Hey guys, check this outhttp://www.vnunet.com/News/1126394 isn't IBM out of the hard drive business these days?? oh yeah and retoon thanks for the advice... ;) brockmasterflex bosox79 04-04-2003, 10:26 PM Originally posted by brockmasterflex Hey guys, check this outhttp://www.vnunet.com/News/1126394 isn't IBM out of the hard drive business these days?? oh yeah and retoon thanks for the advice... ;) brockmasterflex Even If IBM was out of the HD Business at least direct sales (which I am not sure of ) does not mean they don't let another third party manufacture them for them & still use the IBM name. eg a subliterary like Chrysler and Dodge dodge being an offshoot Chrysler. I could be mistaken though just my .02 sasKuatch 04-05-2003, 10:42 PM My 2gig Seagate is still running fine after 6 years. I hope my Travelstar holds out. IMO, personal experience does not mean much when talking about reliability. My stuff lasts forever, while some of my friends don't have any electronics older than 1 or 2 years. It all depends on the 'environment'. I baby everything and talk to it constantly, while they drop things, have dogs in the house that chew on things, and siblings that like crunching/breaking sounds. retoon 04-05-2003, 11:16 PM Im not talking about personal experience. I mean, when I recieve pcs at Staples, I get alot more faulty Seagates and WDs then any other brand. Maybe I am just the outlier, but I've been there about 2 years now, and with in that sample space, that is the trend I noticed. justlinux.com
