Did anyone see the big article in the WSJ today about how much bigger Linux and Free Software is becoming? It told about how many really big companies are finding it so much cheaper, yet without a loss in quality (and in fact in many of the cases the quality was increased), to use Linux and open software for their businesses. Microsoft's days are numbered...

Probably one of the heaviest users are the brokerage firms in NYC. MorganStanleyDeanWitter has already begun transitioning to Linux and apparently several other majors are quietly doing the same thing. A broker my wife works w/in Wash DCC has his personal box dual booting Linux/WinXP and
others in the office are also thinking hard about it.

If more box makers like Dell, HP, etc would offer the optional OSes more would do it in a heart beat.

I had one come into my work area (in our apt.) to scope out Xandros and the ease with which I can switch back and forth and also "shaer" files with Crossover and he will be doing the same when he upgrades his personal box at work later in the spring.

Better a half loaf than none!
