I just recently installed Debian Woody (I'm impressed) and installed the newest Stable Kernel and xfree86 4.3.0, as well as waimea (neat wm). Now I want to know what kind of things I could add to Waimea to make it more impressive. For example, how does one add a gnome panel or kde kicker to it (or can they)?
Likewise, I'd also like to learn how to install new fonts for it too. I've pretty much learned how to create my own styles, just the font part is missing. And finally, what;s this "action" thing for it and how can I implement it to increase efficiency?

Hello
Many of the waimea users have set up a community over at
incise.org (http://incise.org/waimeawiki/index.php/)
that should take care of a few of your questions but I will adress them now also.
1. If you want to start a gnome panel you can just run gnome-panel from any terminal. But most likely you will want to add that to some startup script. I use GDM so in my /etc/gdm/Sessions/waimea file i add this line
gnome-panel &
before the exec waimea line.
2. Waimea uses the same fonts that X does so you need to learn how to install fonts into your X system. I'm not going into that here and now.
3. Action files tell waimea how to act such as sloppy focus, click to focus and many many many other things. Using waimea action files you should be able to make waimea act like any other window manager out there. The waimea man page has a good description of action files and how to write them. Also many of the themes available on waimea.org come with some nice action files.
I hope this helps you, and enjoy this kick *** window manager.
