Hi
just installed mk 9.1 as a upgrade seems everything went smoothly at least on the surface. Now to go inside and see if everything works! I hope so!!

My suggestion is to ditch it. I did after having 9.1 running on my laptop for 3 hours.

The first install, it failed to recognized properly X although I have been using successfully previous versions of mandrake (8.0 and even 7.2). Second, after rebooting, it lost/forgot about the cd/dvd rom that comes with my laptop. Third, after doing a generic install, it did not have the package for kppp.
I had to find it (simply by configuring my modem).
Enlightment and xfce were missing several components and constantly gave me errors.

Finally, it was very sluggish and bloated.

I am sorry to hear that you have had so many problems with mandrake 9.1, but laptops can be a pain to get up & running under linux.

I have been running mandrake 9.1 for the last 3 days & it runs great on my desktop box. This is the best Linux distro I have used so far Mandrake did a great job with 9.1 Although everyones millage will very

just my .02

Same here, just installed 9.1 after a few years outta the linux scene. Mandrake has done an excellent job with this one! Just like any distro, it's gonna take a little futzing, but it's definitely worth it.

Yes, I have found some problems with Mandrake, but overall it's very nice.

I had it on my laptop for about as long as sol-dude. First it too 3 tries to get the partitons right as it was very dumb at doing it itself. Then it refused to configure my Linksys wpc-11 wireless card, where Red Hat has no problems and I just loaded Knoppix on it and have zero problems with hardware (found the card AND the WAP without any configuring)

Glad you like it though, it is a nice distro...enjoy! :)

Well it's the 2nd day of use and I'm impressed.
As for trying suse no thank-u didn't like suse before and probably still won't. Nothing personal just like mandrake better. Waiting for
RH 9 in april to see what it's like, but will stick
with mk9 for now and a while to come:D

and I must say I am VERY pleased with it. Even compared to MDK 9.0 it's better. Although I am using it on a desktop instead of a laptop.

Install was much slicker and was FAST. Only took about 40 minutes (including the post install stuff) to get to my new KDE 3.1 desktop. It seems to load faster, after it gets through the initial boot stage anyway. It's hard to beat for 9 bucks, IMHO.

Just my thoughts,
