PLease help me guys .....

I'm using Mandrake 9.0

Shorewall and Apache are running, I'm also running internet sharing for my network.

before I had a error that said :
" connection refused www.mysite.com:8080 "

Now I'm getting :

" Redirection limit for this url exceeded. Unable to load the requested page. "

I e-mailed my webforwarding host, they said it's a web server problem. So I typed in my IP and got the same error message.

ANY IDEA'S ???? I'VE PULLED OUT ALL MY HAIR !!!!! I DON"T WANT TO HAVE TO REINSTALL AGAIN.

Thanks in advance, cause I know someone out there has the answer:D

make sure your hostname is correct and you have loaded the correct module for your NIC. That was my problem too.

Does my hostname have to match my webserver name ????

I have my host name phattserver.net but my webserver is phattserver.org does that matter??

what about Virtual Hosts ???

I dont know about virtual hosts, but you could try to use the .org hostname and see if that works. Also, are you sure you are using the correct module for your NIC? It sounds like your machine cant connect to the NIC, and if you havent loaded the correct module, that could be the problem also. You might search for virual hosts and see what you can find, cause i dont know anything about that. What NIC do you have?

Are you behind an ISP firewall?
My ISP blocks port 8080, maybe yours does too.
Can you surf the web on this machine? If you can, I would think it's not the NIC.

Thanks for the reply guys !!!!

First off my NIC card works find, I'm hooked to the DSL modem with that card and can use the internet and share the internet.

My ISP does not block any ports, as a matter of fact they warn me to use a firewall because of that :)

This is How I fixed the problem .... I brought my httpd server down and installed apache 2.0, then started it up and everything works great, so it must have had something to do with the config files... just a guess ... Would still like to know what cause the problem...but at least I'm up and running again anyhow!!!

Thanks again for your input !!!!
