Alright, I got got back around to putting Suse 8.1 back on (I trashed it when I tried to just upgrade glibc to 2.3, I will be more wiser next time). Anyways, all was great (I love Suse), until I went to upgrade my KDE back up to 3.1.1. For some reason Kdesktop would die and not come back. After reinstalling the RPMs about 4 times, and trashing my home directory, I figured out what was causing the error. At first I had it limited down to when I crank up full visualization in KDE, then I broke it down.

Turns out, it was when I turned on 'other file previews', and even more looking into it, it seems to only be the sound files. Well, Now that I figured the thing out and have a usable KDE, I would like to know how to get this back working. When I turn it on, it kills all my icons and background, and no right/middle clicking for menus on the background (in other words, all of Kdesktop I presume).

I install a hefty install when I put on Suse (~2-3 gig install, with all the packages I add), but think maybe this time I missed an important sound library or app, and the rpm dependency didn't catch it.

If anyone has heard of this, or has had the same problem, let me know. I actually had my system running the exact same setup (Suse 8.1, KDE 3.1.1, etc) without any problems, and am now stumped why this time around with the same stuff, it blows up.

I figured it out, it was that I didn't install 3.1 before I put on 3.1 (came from 3.0.3 from Suse install). By not doing so, I dind't have arts and a few other packages.

I am now getting a libkcm_konq.la error, but I should be able to track down an answer for this one.
