Okay get this... I can get to the first boot screen and choose either F1 or F2 for additional help or simply ENTER to continue. After hitting ENTER the screen goes black, the keyboard CAP lock and SCROLL lock lights start to flash in rotation and the CD stops spinning thus the install comes to a dead halt. Any ideas?

Could it be a BIOS setting?

I am having the same problem you are having. if i press F1 and use "vga16" command the install starts. when it is finished installing, and i choose linux from LILO, the screen goes black and the caps lock and scroll lock flashes with black screen. i am starting the think its the video card. I have a geforce 4 4200, what do you have?

Actually, I figured it out....and yes it happens to be video card related, in regards to Nvidia products. I have a GeForce 4200 Ti BTW.

This problem only affects machines with more than 768 MEGS of RAM. Use the linux=512MEM line from the F1 list and boot the machine. Everything worked fine for me after that.

i found that if i use 800X600 resolution instead of 1024X768 it resolves the problem. then i install nvidia drivers and all is great in the world......at least for awhile.:)
