Mandrake 9.1 USB Probs

I am posting this for a friend, and when he goes to install Mandrake 9.1 final, he gets the following error:

Detecting USB Devices...

Could not uncompress second stage ramdisk. This is probably a hardware error while reading the data. (This may be caused by a hardware failure or a linux kernel bug.)

Error in exec of Stage 2 :-(

Trying to execute '/usr/bin/runinstall2' from the installation volume, the following fatal error occured.

FATAL ERROR IN STAGE 1: I/O Error

This error occurs during the standard pre-install hardware scan. Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

I cant offer help, but I can tell you that I am experiencing this same problem as are a couple co-workers.

We all have the ame kind of machine.. Intel 810 Mobo with integrated gfx, 256mb pc133 RAM.

Do those specs fit your friends machine as well? Perhaps it is a problem with the Intel chipset or something.

Please let me know what you find.
