Hi, I'm using apache and I just bought a .com domain name. I'm not sure how to connect my apache to that... I can run apache from ip adress though. The options on the domain name registration control panel are set where I can change the IP and DNS servers. SO, I changed the IP to mine, but did nothing with the dns. I tried setting up the apache config file but that didnt work yet

You need to add your IP/website name to a DNS computer. Whoever you bought the .com from might have some sort of instructions on which DNS to use, or you could use something like http://zoneedit.com/ All of this should be done before you even touch apache. You could run your own DNS with BIND, if you wanted to.

ok cool. The default dns settings that they had were dns5.register.com and dns6.register.com
so im guessing that I am added already. I think that I may be getting the "Page not found" error because I havent given them time to completely set up my .com name into their computers. (It said allow 24-72 hours

Yeah, if you can use the IP to surf there you should be cool as soon as your DNS entry propagates thru the 'net.
