Just warning users out there that according to PCWORLD the P4 3GHz processor is not good for most people. It acts as 2 different 1.5GHz processors and usually is slower then the 1.5GHz processor. Its a new type of technology called multi-threading which doesn't work so well yet. So if anyone out there is planning to get a 3GHz processor the Athalon XP 3000+ is a better bet, which according to PCWORLD is a good deal faster then the P4 one.

A P4 3.0 is a true 3.0GHz processor. Hyperthreading allows it to behave as two 3.0GHz processors, but it doesn't work as well as true SMP. Either way, it's certainly not 1.5GHz.

Irregardless of what the numerical specifics of the processors are, the article still shows the above statements to be true in regards to speed comparisons between different processors. Of course I'm pro AMD as I'm sure you couldn't guess, but that nevertheless also doesn't change the findings of the actual article itself.
