Hi All

I got a very common problem i installe Linux RedHat 7.2 on my Pc the instalation was fine but it didn't configure my graphics card. The deevice name i am having under Display Adapters is "Intel(R) 82845G/GL Graphics Controller". The VGA and sound are builtin. How can i solve the problem. I need early reply i am also a new user and can't wait to work on Gnome.

What exactly is the problem? If that is what RedHat autodetects, than i suggest you go with it. Can you please be more specific?

Linux is not autodetecting the card i didnot try to do any experiment with the settings. The list don't have this driver listed. I want to know how to configure my card so that Graphic server can start.

Ok. Can you not use a default driver? Have you searched G4L (http://www.google.com/linux) for drivers for your card? Maybe the Motherboard manufacturer could help you, as you said, the video and sound are onboard. Maybe you could just try a more modern Distribution? RedHat might have support for your card. Have a look at this page: Redhat hardware compatibility support page (http://hardware.redhat.com/hcl/).

Another thing that might help, is if you can list the steps you went through (i.e. 1)Went through the install, 2)Got stuck at the X configuration, etc.)

Yeah i am looking at ur refered site. I hope i can fiind some thing over thanx for ur great help :). you really solved my problem If i stuck again then i will disturb u again

I saw ur refered site and i found that i need to install a driver from the intel site after that driver installation i can run Xwindows. The site url is http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/linux/graphics.htm
