(Note: I'm sort of a newbie. ;))

Trying to compile blackbox and WM on my rig (I'm running RH8 on a Celeron 500 and 128MB of RAM... forgot the kernel version). Got to the ./compile step, and it couldn't find X.

Uh, I'm running X!

Is that the problem? Do I have to be not running X to install a WM?

And if you do, how do you not start up X? I think you just go into Interactive Mode at startup, and just tell it not to start X. Just wanna make sure.

It probably means the XFree86 Development file, Run redhat-config-packages and install the X development package(s)

Hrm, I didn't think of that! I'll be sure to try that once I get access to the computer it's on.

I'll edit this post once I see what happens.

Thanks. :)

A suggestion - I use RH 8, I would just go ahead and install all of the developer source stuff. You'll need it if you are going to install anything from source.
