I have in my hands suse 8.1 and it has some nice packages.

How wise would it be to installing things from suse to RH?
For example, to install Java so i can do java programs.

Not very.

Why not just install the Java included with Redhat?

The contents of the RH 8.0 cds in their most current form can be found at:

ftp://ftp.redhat.com

Alternatively, an HTTP source for RPMs for all distributions:

http://www.rpmfind.com

There is a site for strictly RH 8.0 RPMs but I dont know it.
