Linux Flavor = RH8

Yes, I am trying to figure out how to duplicate my current RH8 install on several different machine. I've been reading "The Red Hat Bible" by Negus and ""Red Hat Linux System and Network Administration" by the Red Hat Press.

I used the kickstart utility but when I viewed the ks.cfg file it didnt list alot of the packages I installed. Page 54 of the Red Hat Press book states that the install.log file has a list of all the packages installed during the initial installation. Is it better to take the packages listed here and put those in the ks.cfg file? or....

I also looked at the anaconda-ks.cfg file which lists alot of information. Looks to me like I should just rename this file ks.cfg and put it on a bootable linux floppy.

What bothers me is that there are 11 pages of packages installed in the install.log file and only 4 pages of packages istalled in the anaconda-ks.cfg file. Should I copy these packages over? Also does it matter what order the packages are listed in - can I put them in alphabetical order in the ks.cfg file so I can find if a package is installed or not when I look at the file (or print the file out) ?

-I am just a person trying to learn, no more, no less! HELP!

Umm... This is a PPC forum... If you need to know something about installing RedHat, you might want to try the "Installation Help Forum"

move along.... Nothing to see here
