Mandrake 9.0/GNOME

Just got Mandrake 9.0 up and running on my system. But I am experiencing an unusual problem. Whenever I login my gnome panel (taskbar) is visable (though empty - no icons/applets/menus) for a second and then disappears, leaving only a desktop with icons for home dir, CDROM, floppy, and the trash.

Being a newbie I am having a hard time finding my apps and config utilities...

Anyone have any ideas?

After hours of searching other Linux help forums I came across a solution:

gnome-panel
gnome-session-save
