just wondering, i set my background using bsetbg -f [whatever], but the pic is not big enough for the whole screen, is there a way to set the background color in addition to background image?
thx

I would try xsetroot or xv to set a solid color bg.

If all else fails, what I would do is just resize the image to your resolution using the gimp, then bsetbg should work fine.

From the bsetbg man page:

OPTIONS
-f, -full image
image is stretched to fill the entire desktop.

Bummer... it's odd that the -f switch didn't work. Have you tried it with a different image file? Also, if you have Eterm installed, you could Esetroot, which is more powerful and gives you the ability to have transparent Eterms.

I also have this problem. I beleive bsetbg will not stretch, only resize maintaining the relative widnth and height of the image.

Try this:

xv -root -max -quit /path/to/background.jpg

Take a look here. (http://www.justlinux.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=87650)

You should be able to set up your defaults for full-size images.
