just wondering, i set my background using bsetbg -f [whatever], but the pic is not big enough for the whole screen, is there a way to set the background color in addition to background image?

Have you tried it with a different image file? Also, if you have Eterm installed, you could Esetroot, which is more powerful and gives you the ability to have transparent Eterms. I beleive bsetbg will not stretch, only resize maintaining the relative widnth and height of the image.
