Hi,

I'm just about to buy a tft monitor, and I already found two good ones but I can't decide which to buy.

Are there any tft owners out there who know what I should care about?

Samsung Samtron 71s
Contrast 350:1
Response 25 milliseconds

Gericom MT 1704
Contrast 300:1
Response 20 milliseconds

Other specs are pretty much the same.
What's more important, a high contrast or a low response time (I want to use it for games as well)
Maybe they're both ok and I just should go for the cheapest?

Thanks in advance,

Chris.

I've never heard of Gericom though I do know that Samsung is one of the better CRT/LCD manufacturers.

Personally out of the two, I would go with the Samsung.

You should however buy two of the one you decide upon and sent it to me just in case you need help here on the setup etc. ;)

I have a Belinea 10-17-41 which you should be able to get in Germany, as it's a German company and the picture quality is excellent.

I would definately recommend Belinea.

Thanks for your input so far.
The Belinea tft's look very promising, but they cost more than I'm willing to pay (667 euro / 730 $)

Samsung 17'' (480€/530$)
Gericom 17'' (400€/440$)

I found a third one that looks good to me: Ilyama 17'' tft, contrast 400:1, response time 20 ms. It's above the "500 euro barrier", but maybe its worth it.

My real question is:
Are 25 ms response time good enough for gaming / is a contrast ratio of 300:1 sufficient for daily work?

Again, thanks for your help,

Chris.
