I don't know what kind of mouse mine is, all I know is that it was made by Logitech, and came with my Compaq computer. Mandrake got my mouse wheel to work, but I just installed RedHat 7.3 "I can't get 8.0 to work"

Does anyone know what I can do to get my mouse wheel to work, I tried the tutorial on this site, but it didn't work, and I don't know if it was for my mouse anyways.

Thanks

A search for wheel mouse here turns up quite a few hits.

Does your XF86Config Input section look something like this?

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "PS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
EndSection

Change "PS/2" to "IMPS/2" and see if that fixes it.

My XF86Config Input section looks like this:

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
EndSection

Thank you very much rickenbacherus, it finally works :D

Now all I got to do is wait for RedHat to release 8.1 and then I can finally upgrade :)

Anyways, i got to go back to ESPN2, and get back to Kasparov vs. Deep Junior, Man vs. Machine!

I don't think it was a major offence but had you done a search yourself right here at JL you could have easily found the answer on your own. It is one of the more commonly asked questions.I believe the people who voluntarily take the time to answer questions often look at all of the new and/or unanswered posts.

I had to learn the hard way too :D

If you do a search and still can't find anything then perhaps asking to be directed to a previous post or other source would be less likely to get you flamed.

I don't think it right anyone should be flamed!!!!

I'm actually a big advocate of the search and use it all the time on another forum. I even tell people that they need to search, but I try to give some info out at the same time so I'm not just saying "search...good day." I was in a hurry to go to class and posted a quick question hoping to have it answered when I got back, but all I got was use the search. So I searched and I did get it working, but I expected a little more help for the first question I asked. Anyways, it's working now so I'm not gonna brood.
