Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Linux Computers: Online Purchase?
I have seen a few places that sell computers online already loaded with Linux and they are very inexpensive. What is the best online resource for purchasing computers online? My Dell 500MHZ P3 is kinda dogging it.
Thank you.

Here is one source I found - a strictly Linux shop.
Pre-installed Linux boxes (http://www.carbonlinux.com./prodline.htm)

Build one yourself, or just start upgrading components. More ram may help keep that 500 going for 6 more months or so, and while that happens, prices will keep going down. Heck, I'm planning on keeping my dual 450 machine going for another year before replacing it.

My K7 550 still does just fine - it isn't a blazing fast machine but it does what I want - that Dell oughta work fine for a long time to come, put Linux on it.:D

You didn't mention what OS is curently on your machine, but Linux should be perfectly usable.....not lightning fast, but very usable. If you already have Linux on this box, then you may want to try switching to a differnt desktop environment/Window manager. I found that "K" was dog-slow and crashed my PC alot. I now switch between IceWM and WindowMaker. Both seem to be faster and I no longer have the crashing problem. I'm running an AMDK6-2 333mhz with a monitor running at 1280 x 1024.
