I have a been trying different games at this point under Mandrake 9.x and every time i try to combine sound with gfx in the games, the gamesound jerks and slows the graphic down to about 6-10 fps, sound works fine in Xine, mp3 files etc. but screws up when enabled in games such as UT2003, Q3 and even Tuxracer.

My question is: how do i fix this?

my Gfx card is a Asus TI-4600 and soundcrad is the onboard card on a P4T-E AC`Audio Codec (realtek based i think)

do you have the nvidia drivers from www.nvidia.com installed or the default ones that come with X?

i have the default that comes with X because every time i have tryed to install the ones from Nvidia, they totally screw my display up or won't compile properly

Try an older version of the drivers, I've had bad luck with the last release and had to fall back to the prior version for things to work right again.

Plus they compile much better, with the new ones I have to drop down to init 2 just to compile them!

you have to use the ones from nvidia to get accelleration.

are you following the instructions in the readme on nvidia's site exactly?

the nvidia drivers are easy to install.

i am following the read-me file from Nvidia so things should be right and yes they are very easy to install, just rpm -ivh package and then edit the xf86config-4....

Mahdi did you mean another driver version or another distribution of Mandrake? i know Mandrake 9.1 is a RC1 candidate but it seems to work well.

last i want to say thanks for the help so far :), it still doesnt work so any suggestions are still welcome.

Sorry, I meant an older version of the nVidia drivers...I (and many others) have had problems with the 4191 and I currently use the 3123 without problems.

It's a bummer too, the 4191 has a lot of nice improvments...but I don't think they were worth the %100 CPU usage when moving the mouse :)

ok i've tryed the 31.23 which came up with this "(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVdriver kernel module!" so now nothing works :) .. bad luck streak i guess, perhaps i should it again with a fresh installation.
