I don't mean to tick anybody off but, please can we add a new channel to the forum for "Which Distro Is The Best?" or "Why Linux Over Windows?" It seems that every few days or so there is a new post on which distro is the best or why to chose Linux over Windows. Am I wrong? Like I said I'm not trying to tick anyone off or anything, I'm just throwing the idea out there. Does anyone else agree?:)

That doesn't really sound like a bad idea to me. It's true that the issue is discussed at great length here, many times over. A place just for those kinds of threads would certainly be fitting and help to organize it all a little better.

Of course, if people followed the posting guidelines, and searched the forum before posting a question, then they wouldn't be there at all ;)

Actually that is one of the topics that should be posted in the new improved /dev/random.

The problem with that is most newbies aren't going to understand what /dev/random means or what it is for.:)

In all fairness, there is a description under the /dev/random title which does offer a pretty good idea of the sorts of things to go there, and I quote: "Got a question about Linux, the community, or technology that does not quite fit in the other channels? Here's the place to ask..." Also, the fact that "random" is in the title at all also tends to suggest what may be found there.
Nevertheless, I still am in favor of threads of the afore mentioned sort having a place all their own, if only for the added organizational benefits it would provide.

personally, the 'WHY I'M GIVING UP ON LINUX' posts get on my nerves, not that people don't have the right to wine endlessly, but they should at least be separated into another forum, like /dev/random.
nothing can be done about this i don't guess though.
