I should be starting my 3rth electrical and electronic engineering year within a few months..but im thinking on changing lanes.

Im thinking on "Computer Networking" career (i dont quite know how to translate the title), i kinda like computers more than i thought, even programming....Im just 20 years old

I could finish my EEE and take some networking courses.... well, just wanna hear some comments from you guys, feel free to say anything...

thanks

well if you only have one year left of the course i'd try to stick with it. Maybe do some part time courses along side to gain more qualifications.

actually, here the EEE is 5 years, and "Computer Networking" is 4 years

¿Que hubo, vecino? ¿Que tal la clima ahi... siempre como el infierno? :-))) Estoy fresquitico aqui en San Jose, Costa Rica.

If you want my humble advice on what you should do, it's this: do what you enjoy!

I have seen too many many people go through life miserablle because they got a job for "security" sake (a stable job, a good-paying job, etc.). But, they didn't like it.

It's better to go through life a poor and happy, and to go through life with a "good job" and unhappy.

I studied accounting in college (for several reasons, one of which was that I know I could always find a job as an accountant). I hate accounting. It was like pulling teeth to keep a job. I hated every minute of the dang job.

Experiment if you can with computer networking. It may be that you will find that you like more "hands on" hardware oriented network installing, configuring, etc. Great! Do that. Find out what you enjoy, what you are good at, what you like doing... and give it a go!

Suerte.

I`m allso a EE student and will graduate, hopefully, next year.

In my humble opinion in think you should stick to EE till you graduate.

A lot of superb code crakz & Sys admins & networking adwisors are indeed EE graduates, with a pasion for computers.

It`s trough, that the classical electrics stuff (semiconductors, transistors, curent transformers, and all the bla, blah, blah stuf)
has been replaced by electronic software and harware design (simulation and development of electronic circuits or signal ... (MULTISIM & MATLAB & OCTAVE & LABVIEW & MATHCA & MATHEMATICA & & & &) .I recently went to a autmation developmnet firm, elite one in this part of the world, and the 1. thing they`ve asked me was."Can you do BouBle Sort or quick SoRt?"

I think the cnowledge that you earn as an EE student, may be exelent underestimated by solid knowledge of computing (hard, soft), so you can do and controll many more things than an EE or CE, AND THAT MY FRIEND REALLY IS A POT OF DOUGH!
