Hey, I just got the Powerbook g4 and im' trying to setup linux on here, Yellowdog 2.3 to be exact. I can't get the yellowdog cd to boot in this system, I've tried holding down the 'c' button and that doesn't work. Is there some special way that has to be done on this computer??? Any help will be super!
Thanks!

Have you tried;-
'Option + Command + O + F'
then
'boot cd:,\\yaboot [Enter]'
yet?
Instead of holding down 'C' key, of course.

just my opinion of course but you are nuts to dump OS X for linux on that lappy.
Aqua is a superior desktop to XFree86 in every way. I just ordered one of those powerbooks and have no plans to ever use linux on it. as much as i like linux i sorely miss plsying around in OS X. the new jaguar release is just beautiful massive improvement to 10.0 and the upgrade they issued from that.
i can't wait for my powerbook to arrive.

I absolutely agree with sara31. I am planning to get the 17 inch PowerBook myself, but I really cannot say right or wrong when it comes to one's preference.

I've decided to stick with using OS X, but I was going to do a dual boot sytem. But since I can do a lot of linux stuff in OSX I guess I don't need it. Maybe i'll get a pc laptop for an exclusive linux machine.

Yeah... I'll be doing something very similar to this as well (laptops, because I travel a lot). You may want to take a look at this for running Linux apps under MacOS X:

There is also the Fink project too ;) .
