Hi,
Is anyone here into the animation industry or have experience in animation?
Im in desperate need of a favor. Can someone reproduce this yellow thing dancing (http://forums.clubsi.com/showprofile.php?Cat=&User=547&what=search&Forum=All_Forums&Words=jsmonet&Match=Entire%20Phrase&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Old=1week) to be a Gorilla dancing while holding a Martini cup/glass?
PLEASE....There might even be a reward ;)
Thanks.

Not that I really know what I'm doing, but I have some experience... It might be easier to just draw something from scratch. Look something up on google about making animated gifs and look for some simple, cartoony gorilla images. Take one, and make a few poses and put them into a gif.
If you had a gorilla model, I'd tell you to use blender, because it's fairly easy to make an animation with blender.

1.) If you're truly wanting to get into 3-D animation, go with my personal favourite: Maya. It's a little expensive and you have to use it on windows(possibly mac?), but hey, you asked for industry standard. It was used in Lord of the Rings for all 3-D effects. That's some impressive work for retail software.
2.)What the hell is that little yellow thing supposed to be?
--It's a .gif image, and most good 3-D programs will let you export to .gif.
for info about Maya, go to www.aliaswavefront.com
Also try Lightwave 7. They use it on all of the new 007 movies, plus the Final Fantasy: Spirits Whatever movie.

Oh, you wanna see impressive? Check out Film Gimp. It's been used in Harry Potter films, Stewart Little, and some others. Impressive for open source, isn't it? And it's free. Of course it's not a 3D suite, it's for touching up videos.

It's Gir from Invader Zim.
You can just make your own .gif images.
If you want 3d you can go with some of the packages that are out there. Maya runs under linux as far as I know, but unless you've got a couple thousand dollars burning a hole in your pocket I'd go with something else. Blender is free and will run in linux. I'm sure there are a few other programs for free for linux, but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
