Tell me about it!

My key website tracking system doesn't "co-exist" with Mozilla/Netscape either.

Ah well, someday perhaps the "weasels" will learn. In the meantime - it's boycot time! :(

Title: I would guess the screenshot says it all

Text: Not really a great idea to try and sell Linux CDs to people when your web site won't allow people who use Linux to purchase it.

<Attached the screenshot I put inline>

Huh? That's redhat.com. Why yes it is :)

I remember this story now...Last year I think it was.
These guys got in trouble for 'selling' burned CDs with the Red Hat name on it. People were buying these and thinking they were entitled to full Red Hat support like a store bought bundle. So Red Hat asked them if they would not put "Red Hat Linux" on the CDs so people would get the hint that these are not 'official' disks.

These are the downloaded version of Red Hat, which is really no different then the bundled disk...just you get official support from the bundle :)

:rolleyes:

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS LINUX 8!!!!

Jeez, people! :mad:

And, err, their website works wonderfully in Linux. What you are apparently referring to as a "not supported" message is not in fact an error, it's the name of what they're trying to sell. They're highlighting the fact that what they have is not supported by RedHat.

Bad choice of words for a site like that. They should just say that they offer no support and that none is implied in the sale of these CDs. It looks terrible up there in big red letters "Linux not supported" and then to have it list an IP address instead of the name of the site makes it appear as though they are displaying that only to users running Linux.

Poor webmastering IMHO. They could have addressed that in several ways and got the message through much clearer. Default page should be a disclaimer with an "I understand" on the way to the distro list. No confusion and I'm sure RH would be much happier as well.

The RH name cannot be used at all in conjunction with this. It's RH's doing not his. He offers the cd's to anyone that wants them and are not able to download them. He never puts anything up unless he's had numerous request to do so.

I sent a follow up email stating that they might want to add the words 'This version of' in front of the Linux not supported. I will let you know what they say.

I had Red Hat 7.3 from www.cheapbytes.com and it was called Pink Tie. Well, I thought it was funny anyway.

Why? They already state above it "Product Catalog for.........". (not directed at hirguy, but) I think some in this thread are taking a "tongue in cheek" jab at RH a little too serious. :p
