i just got it in the mail, using Gnome as the default desktop, BlueCurve looks good...

i hate to say this but Redhat 8 runs better and figured out my Cdrom drive & CDRW setup better than Mandrake-9 did

IDE 1 Primary master is a harddrive, Primary slave is a CDrom drive...

IDE2 Secondary master is a harddrive, Secondary slave is a CDRW

anyone having problems with Redhat's XMMS not playing mp3 files???

i think i need to get a plugun for xmms...

XMMS will not play MP3's in RedHat 8 unless you download the libraries/etc that let the system run MP3's.

mpg123 may be a start (it will let the system play mp3's), then a plugin for XMMS will be needed.

You can find instructions on RedHat's site.

They took out MP3 & mpeg support from the latest edition of RH due to fears about licensing....

psyche.freshrpms.net has that mp3 plugin, as well as a port of apt-get for Redhat 8.

Also ftp://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrpms/redhat-8.0 is a good place to get apt-get and other goodies for RH8, including the xmms-mp3 patch
