ping but no web page

on my RH7.3 machine, I can ping any website I want, but I cant display any web pages in mozilla. Whats the problem?

Well, ping uses the ICMP protocol. Web requests (most often) use the TCP protocol, and the HTTP sub-protocol that lives on TCP port 80.

Is there a firewall between you and the web site? Is it blocking outgoing port 80?

Is the remote machine even running web server software?

Try typing the ip address in the address bar. If you can get anywhere that way, you may have an issue with the dns server.
