Hi,

I just downloaded Mandrake Linux 9.0. When i was trying to burn the .iso images on CD i kept getting size too large error. When i went back to the directory i saw that 2 CD's were about 730 MB each while most CD Roms have a 700MB capacity.
How do I get around the problem of burning it? Im currently using XP and I intend to install mandrake as a dual boot.
Maybe I could do the harddisk install if someone could tell me how...

thanks

this may or may not be news to you but usually you have to burn cd images differently than regular cd's what burning program do you use?

Yea I'm using the image option, but the download image files, which are copied as an image at more than 730 Megs.
Anyone know about a harddisk install and how it works?
Also how is it different from a CD isntall

To do a hard drive install you usually have to get a special boot image file from which you make a boot/install floppy which knows to look for the isos on the hard drive instead of a CD-ROM. The floppy image file is usually called "hd.img". It, and instructions for installing from alternate (non-CD-ROM) locations, should be somewhere on the download site.

Where did you download from? I did 3 cd's and largest was 699mb. Got mine from Mandrake site- www.mandrakelinux.com/downloads.

in easy cd creator if you open a project and choose the burn option the program is thinking your need an image, ie its putting an image filestystem on the disk for you, which takes on extra to that original image

if you want a for sure burn, first check your md5sums

then just go to the directory with the images and double click on them easy cd will open them into a project at about 690's ish size which will fit on a 700mb disk

good luck and enjoy
