Ok, im trying to setup a dual boot with Win XP and Mandrake 9.0 each OS with their own hard drive. I already have Win XP installed and have formatted my second hard drive in prep to install Mandrake on it. After I reboot my computer auto boots from my cd-rom and the linux installalation begins. However it fails at the very beginning when trying to detect my cd-rom drive. Heres some data I wrote down from the log and kernal msg:

LOG
Mount Failed: Invalid Argument

KERNEL MSG
HDC: IRQ Timeout: Status = 0x80 {busy}
End_Request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 0

Im not sure why it wont detect my hd. I have PnP OS disabled in my bios and have had mandrake installed before on this computer...

Thanks for the help and im sure this wil become a multi question thread :)

Perhaps try adding

nodma

to the initial installation boot prompt.

Well, I was unable to get it installed from CD. I did however manage to get Mandrake 9.0 installed from hard drive and I am happy to announce I am posting this msg running Mandrake 9.0 / Gnome / Konqueror :) and everything seems to running just fine. Well, everything except my sound card. Who wants to help me get my soundcard working :cool:?
