Last year I finally moved from the Amiga, to a PC with WinXP. However, I've decided to ditch Windows. I've noticed from reading some threads on here that people seem to use dual-boot systems - am I asking too much for a Linux-only system? I was thinking of using a second HD to set Linux up - and then formatting the WinXP HD once I was happy that it was working (and maybe putting Amithlon on it (or something)).
The ATI website has information about drivers for the Radeon 8500 - does anyone know if this would be a generic driver that would work specifically with my all-in-wonder 8500 DV?
My other concern is being able to connect to my broadband ISP. Is there anyone in the UK who uses NTL broadband through Linux? I've tried the NTL website, but can't find any help there - and they never seem to answer e-mail questions :(
Also, a friend tells me that I would need drivers for my motherboard - I'm new to owning a PC, so I'm a bit confused about that, as I didn't think that would be necessary.
Apologies if these questions are answered anywhere on this site - I have looked at some of the helpfiles - one of which mentions the drivers - but nothing about needing them for my motherboard.
Thanks in advance :)
