What port do you have apache listening on? By default apache wants to listen on port 80

httpd.conf file -

Listen 80
ServerName www.yourdomain.com:80

If you are behind a router are you forwarding port 80 or 8080 to your server's ip?

i changed the httpd.conf file.
try now.
http://chrisde.homelinux.com

EDIT: On a side note my ISP (Verizon Online DSL)
blocks port 80 so i port 8080

The port 8080 one worked. If you go to a website called http://www.zoneedit.com you can set your addy so that people that type in your domain name with no port numbers will be translated to port 8080. It would be invisible to them. This is also a good tool if your IP addy changes. There is a feature to keep your IP addy updated so that peeps can always find your site.
