Well, i finally got my gentoo setup and this time it actually boots. Once i log into my username, i type startx and it goes through some text outputs, but then says it cant find a screen and so im still stuck at my text input stuff and without a windows manager. I did the GRP install of KDE when i installed linux, so now i need to figure out how to actually start up my KDE. like i said, startx has that error, and startkde does nothing either. Id really like some help here. Thanks iun advance.

That did nothing for me. How do i set up X correctly? All i have done is to install my gentoo from the cd and then boot into the operating system. Do i manually set up x? If so, how do i do it?

edit your '.xinitrc' file to say 'startkde' :)
