Ok, I took out SuSE 8.1 because the file managers blew, were way to laggy.

Got RH 8.0 and everything is running so much easier that I have actually had time to not screw around with the everyday stuff and actually start experimenting! Go figure!

Well with that being said... I use DSL. The setup on GNOME was quite simple. But I want to use fluxbox because it completely throws off my friends when they see me using it. So with that in mind... is there a way to get DSL to start up from Fluxbox.

Searched before posting. =)

The beauty of RH and fluxbox is the ability to learn on your own.

under ~/.fluxbox (NOT usr/share/fluxbox Dont know why) modify your menu the way you want. For RH 8.0 I added

[exec] [dsl] {/usr/local/neat-control}

and it worked perfectly.

My second question is... is there a file manager that runs well with fluxbox?

I ended up with FileRunner, not because I particularly like it but because it was the first thing that installed without a descent into the innermost rings of dependency hell.

But back to the original question (and I may be being a serious idiot here) by DSL are you talking about your Internet connection? If so, I think that is a central function of Linux, not fluxbox. I know my DHCP connection to my router has nothing to do with fluxbox.

I think what they meant was "Is there a way to bring my DSL connection up from fluxbox?".

With KDE and Gnome you have everything you need available from the GUI, and they just want that emulated. I did it too for the most part, except I find I am getting more and more lazy :P

I just went into gnome and found the command linked with the network devices, linked that command to a menu in fluxbox and now just click that to get it to work. That problem is solved. Its running great!

I just discovered Endeavour Mark II (http://wolfpack.twu.net/Endeavour2/) which is a nice, speedy, mature file manager that works great in Fluxbox.
