After trying out a bunch of WMs (blackbox, IceWM, WindowMaker, Fvwm, Gnome & KDE and a couple others) I finally tried Fluxbox - I really like it! Very fast and smooth. Configuration is a minor headache, and I kind of miss having icons (Fbdesk didn't do it for me) but those are a small price to pay for this kinda speed.

Anyhow, I like tabbed windows, and found that the best place for tabs is on the left side. Trouble is, the fonts turn to muck when they're oriented vertically on the left. They look equally bad and illegible with all of them default themes, and manual theme-editing doesn't seem to make any noticeable difference on the font that is used.

(Let me know if I should post a screenshot for clarification).

Any Fluxbox fans out there know if there's a way to remedy this, or if it's just a bug?

The tabs look fine if they're along the top (and horizontal) - font & size changes are easily visible. I'd just prefer 'em on the left if I can get them to look right.

Edit: The tabs look equally bad both in antialiased and non-antialiased mode. Either way, they look aliased.
