I'm lost in the instruction it does not say you need to remove these files fist or you need to install these files first i'm lost, I went in and started rpm -i all 83 files and all I get is Dependency Conflict on every file then I went in and starded using the Install pachage installer with YaST and the same thing. Y and how do i correct this....

Try doing rpm -U instead - that will upgrade rather than install, and therefore will handle it better if there is an existing KDE install.

I'm going nuts here... kde instruction say to use the following for SuSE :
1. rpm -Uvh libart_lgpl*rpm
2. rpm -Fvh *rpm
All I get is Errors can not load or can't find files.
Because of this I just click on the rpm file and it said conflict with Qt / kdebase 3.0 and ect. so I installed it any way that was a bad move now I lost kde totally it will not boot, I had to boot in gnome what should I do now?
If someone gets this that has loaded this in SuSE 8.1 please tell me how you did this..:(

Ok I have got kde3.0 back. Now if I can find out the right way to start the install?
Do I start with Qt3.1 then kdebase/kdelibs?
I'm not able to get autoconf or automake to run.

I have download all the rpms That SuSE had and tryed using kde3.1 notes on the install for SuSE saying to use :
- rpm -Uvh libart_lgpl *rpm or rpm fvh *rpm
Tryed this and got that :
- rpm -Uvh libart_lgpl qt3-3.1.1-15.i586.rpm
linux:/updates/kde3.1/rpms # rpm -Uvh libart_lgpl qt3-3.1.1-15.i586.rpm
error: cannot open file libart_lgpl: No such file or directory
error: failed dependencies:
qt3 = 3.0.5 is needed by qt3-devel-3.0.5-64
No mater what I do this is what I get. I even tryed to just double click on the file and load it by YaST2 but again I get Dependency Conflicts..
What can I do to fix this problem?
Can someone using SuSE 8.1 with KDE3.1 please tell me step by step how to do this before I pull my hair out....

I've merged a few of your KDE 3.1 threads together into this one.
Strange how I replied to one of them today that answers the most recent question you reposted and now my answer is gone. Did you remove that thread?
I explained exactly what you needed to do and now it is gone.

No problem... Just so you know as keeping it all in one thread helps others to see what has already been suggested.
As I posted somewhere in the other thread...
rpm -Uvh libart_lgpl*
rpm -Uvh qt3*
rpm -Uvh arts*
rpm -Uvh kde*

All I did to upgrade SuSE to 3.1 was to download all of the KDE base files from the SuSE website that went with my version of SuSE (8.0).
I went to the directory that I downloaded all of those files to and typed "rpm -Uv --force --nodeps *"
Then I restarted the computer and was in KDE 3.1
