I downloaded the cd image from the mkLinux homepage. I followed the installation instructions, partitioning my HDD and putting the required files in their places in the system folder. Now when I reboot adn select mkLinux, the machine hangs, and i cant do anything. I can even eject the cd!! please help!

Define hangs; what are you seeing when it stops?

Are you able to reboot back into MacOS 8.x/9?
I would double check to see that your Linux kernel is in the proper location. Not even MkLinux is all that friendly on the Performa models... Possibly an Open Firmware argument, or two will help it boot  .

Ok I fixed it. I had to download the special Performa kernel (thanks for telling me Mr. Documentation  ). But anyway… after it boots and loads the kernel, the background turns a nasty yellow and the text turns orange. It works fine though. Any way to change the terminal colors?
