Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : fluxbox and third click
I run fluxbox on a laptop.
The mouse is a touchpad with two buttons that compliment the pad itself.
I spend the bulk of my free time playing Go.
This means that I can't afford to slip up with the touchpad. Because of this, I run touchpad drivers that turn off the clicking capability of the pad itself.
Unfortunately, this only leaves me with two buttons to work with, and no tabbing/grouping capability.
Does a workaround exist for adding tabbing/grouping despite not having third click capability?
Thanks,
Ashe

try pressing the two buttons together
it should emulate a 3rd button click
hrmm..
I get mixed results..
I noticed something like that last night when I accidentally pressed both buttons..
it ended up autopasting while using google.
clicking both buttons on a tab, or while trying to lasso two tabs doesn't produce any results.
Would I have needed to compile in an option to get it to work?
thanks!

all you need to do is make sure emulate 3 buttons is enabled in your XF86Config file
there may be an easy way to add this option, what distro do you use?
I use RH 8.0
I will look into the X86 config file:)
thanks!:)

i have no experiance in RH8
look around the Redhat control progs you got with the distro for mouse settings, that'll make it easyer

ya it's in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 that's where you'll find your emulate 3 button option.

I think you may be able to use the fluxbox keys file to set a key to be the middle mouse button (although don't quote me on this). So you could use, say, one of the Win keys instead.
You may need to update to the latest version - I know they were working on having keyboard access to menus, which should mean that one of the keys is used for the middle button menu, and hopefully can be used for tabs too.

I forgot to reply after i got it going...i got so carried away:P
The XF86Config did it. Exactly what I needed :)
