That is pretty screwed up! Sounds to me like she has a great case for wrongful dismissal though. But who was making the threatening phone calls, and did they actually stop after the lady had been fired?

I suppose it would have been better, as well as in the best interest of the employees and customers, to allow a convicted murder to wander free in the store.

If you ever do see a convict that is wanted by the police, whatever you do make sure that you NEVER call the police and pray that they just leave. If you see someone steal something from the store, ignore it, as reporting them to the police and having them arrested may result in acts of retaliation!!!

My wife works in a retail store (which shall remain nameless), in which, as I understand it, the policy for dealing with shoplifters is:

1. Do not apprehend the shoplifter. Let them go about their business.

2. Call other company stores to inform them about the shoplifter.

3. Do not call the police.

This store recently (a couple years ago) had several thousand dollars' worth of merchandise stolen from it. The management did not understand why.

Amazing.
