Hey Ladies and Gentleman,

I having problem with the desktop icon size in GNOME, how can I change it? Also, where can I find the version of the GNOME desktop I'm running? I believe its GNOME 2, because I think thats what was bundled with RH8.

Thanks all,

brock

just right-click it and select "Resize" if I remember it correctly.

Yep, you probably have Gnome 2. I don't know of any way to set the default size of icons on the desktop (though you can 'stretch' them individually if you're so inclined, which seems kinda silly). Seems like Gnome 2 has fewer configuration options overall than 1.4 did...

For icons in the panel, just resizing the panel ought to affect all icons.

There is a Gnome configuration editor called gconf-editor that is supposed to allow you to change more settings. I haven't played with it much, but it looks like kind of a registry-editor-for-gnome, and they warn you that tweaking it could cause problems. There's probably some way to change icon size with it, though.
