Regards I`m_newbie emetib 02-04-2003, 01:11 AM what's wrong with that name. look at mine. BigFatJoe 02-04-2003, 01:19 AM you mean on you're box, or in JL? JL : I don't think so box: as root, "adduser <user>", and then move/copy all the files from /home/old.user to /home/new.user emetib 02-04-2003, 01:23 AM look at his name.:D come on why would you want to change your name. you can even have a custom avatar if you want one. BigFatJoe 02-04-2003, 01:32 AM if anyone says something about your name, you can remind them that we're all students of life. And there aren't that many self-professed linux gurus. Tempus77 02-04-2003, 05:03 AM I`m_newbie, i think your name's ok.........some of us have got worse names than u (no offense intended)........just relax and let it be..........:) CMonster 02-04-2003, 05:17 AM How many psychiatrists does it take to change a light bulb? > > > > > Just One -but it has to really want to change. fatboy 02-04-2003, 05:21 AM Originally posted by emetib what's wrong with that name. look at mine. ****, what's wrong with your name? Look at mine! And when I got stuck with this I lost about 400 posts from my count! mrBen 02-04-2003, 06:09 AM There must be a way, because cheeky_zombie recently changed his name to zombix. But you might need to get friendly with someone in power. Elijah 02-04-2003, 07:29 AM I was lucky enough to be able to signup with my name :) btw. anyone seen my ring? ScRapZ_1 02-04-2003, 07:42 AM From the FAQ (http://www.justlinux.com/forum/misc.php?s=&action=faq&page=1#profile): ... You can alter any of the fields in your profile, except your username. Once you have registered your username, it becomes yours for life. In extreme circumstances, you may request that the administrator change your username, but he will require a very good reason to do so. ... So z0mbix... who did you sleep with? mdwatts 02-04-2003, 07:56 AM Prior to the major vBulletin upgrade back in June/July last year, the members could change their displayed name themselves. I have yet to find how to do so via the user options/profile. Perhaps Cheeky contacted the admins and requested the name change. However I wouldn't advise everyone to start asking the administrators unless you actually have a problem with your account. Elijah 02-04-2003, 08:04 AM You could just ask the admin to remove your account and start another one with a new name. ScRapZ_1 02-04-2003, 08:46 AM Originally posted by Elijah You could just ask the admin to remove your account and start another one with a new name. ...and start your post count ALL over again?!? Wash your mouth out with soap young man!! ;) mdwatts 02-04-2003, 09:04 AM Originally posted by Elijah You could just ask the admin to remove your account and start another one with a new name. Great idea... I may just do that. ;) Since I`m_newbie only has around 30 posts, it may be easier to just create a new account instead of asking the admins to change the displayed name. carrja99 02-04-2003, 10:29 AM Why would someone want to name themselves I`m_newbie? Elijah 02-04-2003, 10:51 AM Originally posted by ScRapZ_1 ...and start your post count ALL over again?!? Wash your mouth out with soap young man!! ;) I'm only suggesting it cause he's only got 30 posts anyway  mrBen 02-04-2003, 11:08 AM Originally posted by carrja99 Why would someone want to name themselves I`m_newbie? Cause with 47,197 members, good usernames are becoming hard to come by ;) Penrich 02-04-2003, 02:50 PM Maybe its time to purge out all the inactive accounts, what with the name change and all? carrja99 02-04-2003, 06:44 PM Not to mention all of the "post once and never come back" user accounts. I am curious as to why this board doesn't allow non-member posting, like cboard.cprogramming.com does. Huggy 02-04-2003, 07:28 PM I am curious as to why this board doesn't allow non-member posting, like cboard.cprogramming.com does. I would think its coz it keep all the hoodlems <--sp (I think) out People that want to post stupid Sh*T and makes I huge post of smilies then call people names and stuff... Those people can take the time to fill out the fourm. As for one timers I would make a time limit on the account say 1year with no new posts. justlinux.com
