TRSDOS used to run on the TRS-80 / TRS-81 machines that were made in the mid/late 80's by Tandy and sold at Radio shack. It was a floppy based OS that you booted off of and loaded into ram, then got out the next disk and ran your programs off of that. Like the Apple II/IIe and Atari ST (although the ST/Falcon series had a hard drive option later)

Your history is wrong, SunOS is not Solaris, SunOS was an OS that is no longer around for the most part, and was BSD based. Solaris is SysVr4 based and Sun made the change to SysV cause USL (AT&T) pulled Berkeley SysV license leaving all of the BSD based UNIX OS' in a lurch (Sun - SunOS, DEC - Ultrix). Well that was a real fear for Sun and DEC, there was a lawsuit over BSD4.3 and the newly created BSDi which intended to sell it, something that BSD never did. This is why BSD4.4-lite was developed, lite denoted the lack of SysV code. Also in the aftermath of the BSD v. USL suit the i386BSD project was started, which was forked to create FreeBSD and NetBSD.
You may retort that uname -a on solaris will report SunOS 5.x, well that's right they left that, but anything 5.0 or greater is the Solaris OE and has always been marketed as Solaris and is not BSD based but SysV based. Just look at the init systems if you don't belive me ;)

GNU/HURD is the other open-source operating system out there, aside from Linux and BSD. It is, again, a clone of UNIX, but it isn't getting done very fast. It's not finished yet, and I think it's barely usable. I think that is becuase it was created as a Cathedral, not a Bazaar (check www.catb.org/writings/cathedral-bazaar)
